Speed Cave LIVE! Yup, it's about to happen. It has taken way too long, but Speed Cave will finally be hitting the stage in 2011! The inaugural show will take place January 9th at Cosmic Charlie's in Lexington, KY. The show starts at 9:00 and costs a measly five bucks. Come on out and say hi! |

Speed Cave is bass-ackwards! |
April 2010
Oh, hi, world. As you might be able to tell, there was a subtle tweak of the site this month. The MySpace link ran off to play Gnip Gnop with George Burns and John Denver, and the MP3 downloads now have their own separate store. After you grab a track or two (or thirteen, please-and-thank-you-kindly!), head over to the merchandise page and pick up the bitchin' prints from Cricket Press and KRK Ryden. They look wicked sweet in person. Speed Cave managed to pop up on YouTube recently, through zero effot on my part. The good Rev. Ivan Stang—fearless leader of the Church of the SubGenius—posted a series of videos he shot and edited of microscopic organisms. The background music contains selections from The Seahorse King. Behold, the high weirdness of MICROSCISQATSI: Yup. If those things are in your guts, they will make you poop. ![]() |

After lo, these many months of waiting, headaches, and footdragging, CDs of The Seahorse King have finally landed in the Speed Cave Store! YES! These have, in fact, been available since December, just not online. A big, super-special thanks goes out to Louisville's very wonderful ear X-tacy, who were generous enough to highlight The Seahorse King in one of their listening stations. These folks are true friends to local and independent music! Screenprints and T-shirts have also been added to the store. Show your devotion and don't be shy! (The learning curve is steep! Apologies for the long months of silence, friends.) |

All the ducks are in a row! The Seahorse King is in production and will be available in December. This has taken what has seemed like forever, but it's finally, finally, FINALLY happening!

Okay, May came and went without so much as a peep from yours truly. Whoops! Sorry, friends. Rest assured, people are working hard here at Speed Cave HQ to bring you a truckload of sweetness. Everything in its time. Though both of the major announcements failed to materialize last month, one of them is about to happen right here in your face: Lexington's beloved Cricket Press will be doing a poster too! After being a fan of Cricket's fine work for several years now—they're nothing short of an institution around these parts—Speed Cave will become part of their illustrious oeuvre. How cool is that? Like, 157% cool! Yay!

The seventh volume of Not Necessarily Beautiful But Mutated—featuring Speed Cave's version of the DEVO classic "Peek-a-Boo!" and swanky cover art by the great KRK Ryden—remains available from the Rev. Toth Wilder. Stop on by the good reverend's MySpace page to order your copy today. Where else will you hear back-to-back tracks by Speed Cave and Blowfly? 1. OUT OF SYNC - Mutant Mountain Boys |

After months of invisible activity, Speed Cave is back! The site has slowly been evolving and will no doubt continue to do so. It's all baby steps right now, everybody: one foot in front of the other. The album is finally, finally, FINALLY finished and will soon be mastered in Athens, GA, by the legendary Tom Lewis, who mastered one of my all-time favorites, Love Tractor's The Sky At Night, among the best-sounding albums ever. Yay! The incomparable strawberryluna will be handling the cover art, and what she's come up with looks spectacular. I'm really pleased with how everything is shaping up. Last but not least, what I'm hoping will be a series of Speed Cave prints is on its way, the first of which comes courtesy of brilliant lowbrow surrealist KRK Ryden. Things are chugging along slowly but surely, folks. Be patient and keep checking back here for updates. In the meantime, drop me a line and say hi, send me your unwanted Valentine's Day hams, or throw a remix my way. And remember: Speed Cave is your friend! |
